Hello Families!
In Literacy, we are continuing to build our independent
reading stamina and practicing reading in book groups. We have also been doing
word work with CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words (such as lip, rug, net, mad). In Writing Workshop, we
are working on putting true stories from our lives on paper with words,
pictures, and labels. Next week, we’ll start focusing on “small moment”
stories.
In Math, we’re practicing determining more or less using
greater than and less than symbols and ordering numbers from least to
greatest/greatest to least. Counting activities, number card games and dice games have helped us practice
these skills.
We’ve been learning all about apples in Science. We studied two non-fiction books to find out how apples grow, the life cycle of an apple, and what each part of an apple is called.
Using Cortland, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and McIntosh apples, we inspected and recorded the properties we observed with our five senses.
Then, we made two types of graphs to show which type of apple we liked best.
