Hello Families!
In Math, we’re continuing our work with adding and building
our number sense. We have also been looking at types of graphs, discussing how
the same information can be shown in different ways, and have practiced
answering questions about each set of data.
We made our own bar graphs and collected data from our classmates about
which color we liked best.
In Science, we are learning about living and nonliving
things, and studying the life cycles of plants and animals. We planted an amaryllis
bulb so that we could observe an example of a plant life cycle in our
classroom.
After discussing what an amaryllis typically looks like, we
drew and wrote a prediction of what our amaryllis
might look like when it grows. We’ve been observing our plant closely each day
to see if we notice any changes.
We have third grade buddies! We’ve
paired up with Mrs. Messina’s third grade class and we are conveniently located
across the hall from each other. First, we listened to the story ‘Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving by
Dav Pilkey.
After the story, we made turkey glyphs with our buddy. The color of each part of our turkey represents something about us. For example, if we colored the feathers of the turkey yellow, it meant that we like to eat corn. If we colored the feathers green, it meant that we like to eat green beans.

We can’t wait to see our third grade
buddies again!
