Hello Families!
In Math, we’re
continuing to strengthen our counting and addition skills. We have been using
snap cubes, dominoes, number lines, dice and card games to help us practice. We’ve
also been using pictures to show adding and to tell addition number stories. Our
math vocabulary is growing! We’ve learned that addends are the numbers you add
together, and the sum is the answer to an addition problem.
In Literacy, we are
continuing to build our stamina during Read to Self. During this time children
independently read the pictures, read the words, or read both pictures and
words of a just right book. We’re practicing in order to reach our goal of
reading independently for 20 minutes.
We have third grade
buddies in Mrs. Messina’s class! Last Friday, our classes met for the first
time to listen to a story about Johnny Appleseed. Then, we worked with our buddy
to create a ‘parts of an apple’ mobile.
In Fundations, we are
reviewing the proper formation of the lowercase alphabet and the
letter-keyword-sound for each letter (b, bat, /b/… c, cat, /c/, etc.). Every
day we do a warm up and practice our letter writing (with good writing
posture!) on paper or with dry-erase markers on white boards. Next, we’ll be
building words!
Enjoy the
weekend!
